To create your own custom GPT, you’ll need a ChatGPT Plus or Enterprise account.

Building Your Dream GPT using GPT Builder

Here’s a detailed procedure to guide you through the process:

Visit the OpenAI website and log in.

To access the GPT Builder section, navigate to the “Explore GPTs” section.

Create your own GPT chatbot by clicking the “+ Create” button above on the right.

Before diving into technicalities, take a moment to envision your ideal GPT. What do you want it to achieve? Is it for writing creative fiction, translating languages, or generating witty code? Clearly defining its purpose will guide your decisions throughout the building process.

Now, time to choose a Creation Path: Opt for either “Create” with the builder’s assistance or “Configure” a hands-on configuration for complete control.

Create:

• GPT Builder assists you through the process: It asks questions and offers suggestions to make creation easier.
• Ideal for those new to GPTs or those who prefer a guided approach.
• Streamlines the process and ensures you don’t miss important details.

Configure:

• Gives you full control over every aspect of your GPT’s creation.
• Allows you to tailor it precisely to your needs and preferences.
• Requires more technical knowledge and understanding of GPTs.

Now, it’s time to tell GPT Builder what your GPT should do. This involves writing instructions that capture its desired behavior with essential details like your GPT’s purpose, desired name, and preferred image. The magic of GPT Builder lies in its iterative approach. If you choose “Create” so, after providing initial instructions, GPT Builder generates some text based on its understanding. Analyze this output, identify areas for improvement, and revise your instructions accordingly. This feedback loop allows you to fine-tune your GPT until it meets your expectations. If you choose “Configure”, you can directly provide the name, description, instructions, and so on, to create GPT. Put your GPT to the test drive right within the Preview playground-ensuring it performs exactly as you envisioned!

Include your GPT in the store

To share a GPT in the store, you’ll need to:

• Save your GPT for Everyone (Anyone with a link will not be shown in the store).
• Verify your Builder Profile (Settings → Builder profile → Enable your name or a verified website).

How to edit your custom GPT

If you are unsure about your GPT or want to add a tweak. Simply go to “My GPTs”. Click the “Edit GPT” pencil icon for the GPT you want to edit and update it.

Click Save once you’ve completed your updates or edits. Your GPT has been updated.

How to delete your custom GPT

To delete your created GPT, Simply go to “My GPTs”. Next to the GPT, you want to delete, click the More icon (…), and click “Delete GPT”. It will permanently delete your GPT.
